Mayli was a dancer who loved to laugh and play with friends, but when it was time to play on the school playground at Curtis Elementary in Weatherford, Texas, Mayli was left out because the playground wasn’t accessible.
Mayli’s mom went to Weatherford Independent School District (WISD) for help. She told them the school needed a place where all children could play together. The school district agreed. They worked with us and GameTime to design a new inclusive playground for Mayli’s school.
Then WISD did something amazing. They replaced the playgrounds at ALL their elementary schools with inclusive playgrounds, so every student could play together.
Now, thousands of students of all abilities throughout WISD can dance, laugh and play together.
Play on, Mayli. (And nice work, mom!)
