Project Overview
The playground at Timberwood Elementary School in Bluefield, WV was designed to serve multiple age groups through a cohesive nature-themed play environment that supports inclusive, engaging play. The 2–5 play area features age-appropriate equipment paired with integrated shade to enhance comfort while encouraging imaginative play and early motor skill development. The 5–12 play area offers a dynamic mix of features including a Duo Rocker/Spinner, net climber, and Expression Swings to promote balance, strength, and cooperative play, along with FreeNotes® Natural Musical Instruments and a Communication Panel that add sensory-rich and social play opportunities. Together, these elements create a well-rounded playground that fosters physical activity, creativity, and meaningful connection for students of all abilities.
