Project Overview
The playground at Church of the Cross YMCA in Salina, Kansas, was designed to create an engaging and inclusive outdoor environment for children of all ages. The space features PrimeTime Modular Units that offer climbing, sliding, and interactive play opportunities, along with a dedicated Tot’s Courtyard area tailored for younger children.
Accessibility was a key focus, with an Access Playcurb with adaptive entry, freestanding activity panels, shade, and thoughtfully designed transitions throughout the play space. A combination of EWF surfacing at a 12-inch compacted depth and PIP surfacing provides both safety and durability while enhancing visual appeal. This thoughtfully planned playground creates a safe, welcoming place where YMCA families in Salina can gather, play, and build community together.
